Hi everyone. Hmmm... What to say about myself. I'm really looking for something to fill my evenings. Having a lot more time on my hands recently. I enjoy wildlife watching (you may have guessed) and am interested most animals. Most people I meet that claim to be into wildlife are actually just interested in the usual - big cats, elephants and actually have zero interest or understanding of their behaviour or otherwise they are into birds to the exclusion of all else. I thought this site seems to have a good balance from what I've seen.

Hi Julie. Welcome again. I agree, there are quite a lot of people that are either obsessive birders, or just interested in the big 'charismatic' species. I think I speak for us all on here when I say our interests are pretty broad, so hopefully you'll enjoy it on here. Looking forward to seeing what you're going to post about!

Hi Juie, welcome to the site! I have a few quick questions if you don't mind: 1) Where are you from? (Roughly - UK? US? Elsewhere?) 2) Where did you hear about the site? Great to have you on board!

Hi Ollie. In answer to your questions:
1. I live in the UK. What about you?
2. This is actually a bit embarrasing... I am planning a wildlife holiday at some point in the future and one possible destination is Tasmania. And well... Every sensible part of my brain tells me they are extinct, but the tiny stupid part that thinks it would be soooo great to find one still alive got me to googling thylacine (tasmanian tiger gets you all the really off the wall stuff). I think I found this forum by putting something like thylacine+wildlife+forum. You seem a bit more sensible than most forums (definitely where tasmanian tigers are concerned)!

Did you watch the Ray Mears programme (see separate thread), Julie? I think you'd like that. The thylacine featured pretty heavily - including people who thought they'd seen one.

We're all from the UK still then. I'm from near Manchester. There's a great thread on why we'll not be bringing the Tazzie tiger in a hurry, btw, if you're interested! edit: but do let us have the scoop if you sight one / a fossa badly photoshopped as one!
