Interesting find Jim! Have you seen the prizes?!?*This could take you to the closing date*** The year in the url says 2013 ** The year in the url says 2012 *cough* After taking around 350 shots today, I think it's safe to say I won't have a chance (so almost certainly won't be entering, on second thoughts). The camera's not good enough, and neither am I, I guess, if I'm honest. Had lots of fun though and might see if I can find some farmyard animals in a few days as they've got to be easier. Still, I think I'd need in the region of 10,000 shots to decimate ad infinitum back home to get one half-decent entry. Went to the lake (as I said I was going to, elsewhere) only to find a young couple in the hide having a romantic twitching session together. I asked the young lad if he knew the lake to have any more hides. I'd have felt terribly awkward staying so left seconds later.* Went back half an hour later and got this pic: I must say, spotting it (and much of the identification process later) was a lot easier by paying attention more to its reflection in the water than the animal itself. Other hightlights included a grasshopper sighting though it's pics were FAILS as it was too well camouflaged. I've just remembered the neighbourhood pied wagtail (I do love these birds). I might take some pics of that tomorrow so long as the neighbourhood cat doesn't get there first. *I missed a chance to recommend the site, there!

Are you into wildlife photography, Jim? I take a few pictures as a record of what I've seen. Admin, I can tell that that's a lapwing, but I'm not sure it's competition material.

I like how it looks like it's a grey northern day (NW, UK) when in effect, it was a GLORIOUS northern day. And I didn't even need to photoshop the sunshine out! (I wouldn't have known how to.)

I'd love to have a crack at a competition, but when you see the standard of some of the other entries.......
At the moment I'm saving for a good sized telephoto zoom so winter geese and waders are top of list of must capture.

True, the competition is tough! I have entered Wildlife Photographer of the Year a few times. No luck with that, but then I wasn't holding my breath. What camera have you got?
