Hi, I thought I'd kick things off here! Here's a story about a family of nine gorillas that were captively bred in the UK (by the Aspinall Foundation). www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-23068433They have been flown to Gabon to live in the wild. They will have three months to acclimatize on an island, then will be able to roam freely. The Aspinall Foundation has released hand-reared individuals into the wild before (with a high success rate), but never a whole family, so it will be interesting to see how they do. There will be protection against poachers at least. In light of a recent article in BBC Wildlife Magazine, this is a good example of how many zoos are getting involved in conservation (controversial perhaps, but it sounds like previous reintroductions have gone well). This has been well-publicised, but in case you missed it (I did), this is Damian Aspinall's reunion with Kwibi, another gorilla he reared in captivity and released into the wild. I defy anyone not to be moved!

BRILLIANT clip Fossa! I was even able to maximise it full-screen which on other sites I was never able to. I wish I had more data allowance left (15gb on the 10th of the month); I'd probably go watch the famous lion reunion again, if I did! Yours is up there with it! Good stuff.

I have no idea how I embedded that video! I could pretend to be a technological wizard, but I'm too honest... Beginner's luck, maybe?

Though it's very much off topic, I must say I prefer my clip just a touch... It's got Christians in it - NOT being eaten by lions!

OK, you win. But I'm not sure if I find the Whitney Houston accompaniment amusing or annoying...

LOL! I didn't pick the music (though I think it kind of goes with it, particularly considering she's no longer with us these days)!

Hi Fossa,
Welcome to the WWForum. Many of us are refugees from the now defunct BBC Wildlife forum. I do remember some posts in the past about Fossas. Is it Fossa or Fooosa? never can remember??

Hey I can edit this too Archie!
Man... it's you Lefty! Let's have some name consistency!
I recommend someone with access to the Wild about Britain forum go contact cabbage Hawk-eye and anyone else to draw them over here. cabbage is a photographer so could supply some photos to spice the place up a bit. Plus both are prolific posters. I will contact them through BBC wildlife but as it's about to die they might not get anything.
I can push a few birdy mates into joining this forum too but it's got to look active to promote people to want to post.

I was a bit fed up with my username and fancied a change (let's face it - Lefty was a bit rubbish!) But I'll change it back if you really want me to... I've also seen 'fosa'. But I prefer this spelling!

Did someone call? Oh for goodness sake Fossa! I'm a hard nosed, heard hearted conservationist. I don't believe in projecting human emotions onto animals and I don't believe in becoming attached. So why have I got a tear in my eye watching that? Must be a hell of lot of dust in this room.
